Not content with recording their every moment and pasting their image to the world, now selfie lovers can literally slurp on their own face.
The Tea Terrace on London’s Oxford Street has the dubious honour of being Europe’s first cafe to etch the images of its customers onto their beverage froth.
Egotists can send their headshots via a messaging app to the barista and then simply choose if they want their face in cappuccino or hot chocolate flavour.
The ‘cino’ machine then faithfully recreates the patron’s face in a sepia finish that can only be described as retro.
The medium behind the design is actually a flavourless food colouring.
Hopefully the selfie-obsessed don’t mind lukewarm coffee, because the whole process takes around four minutes.
Although fans will insist they’re not mugs, these drinks will set you back £5.75.
“Due to social media, the dining experience has completely shifted,” Ehab Salem Shouly, owner of The Tea Terrace, told Reuters.
“It’s not enough any more to just deliver great food and great service – it’s got to be Instagram-worthy.”
More than 400 of the personalised cuppas have been sold since the launch on Saturday.
