A Chicago was arrested on hate crime charges after he said a racial slur before stabbing a woman in the city’s Portage Park neighborhood, authorities said.
Andres Stathoulopoulos, 20, 4100 N. Central Ave., was charged with felony aggravated battery using a deadly weapon and two felony hate crime charges, according to a news release from Chicago police.
Stathoulopoulos allegedly stabbed a 42-year-old woman at approximately 11:05 p.m. on July 8 along West Addison Street near North Major Avenue, police stated. The 20-year-old said a racial slur prior to the stabbing, according to authorities.
He was taken into custody on Wednesday evening in Schiller Park. Additional details about the arrest weren’t immediately available.
