LSU added a familiar name to its 2026 recruiting class on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers have earned a commitment from Darryus McKinley, a 3-star offensive lineman out of Lafayette, Louisiana. He chose LSU over offers from programs like Tennessee, Texas and Florida, among others.
McKinley is the younger brother of currently LSU defensive lineman Dominick McKinley, who is entering his sophomore season with the Tigers. Last year as a true freshman, McKinley made an impact in 10 games, including a couple of sacks against Oklahoma in LSU’s final regular season contest.

Regardless of the family connection, this is a big pickup for the Tigers. McKinley is the No. 556 overall player and the No. 70 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2026. He’s also the No. 19 player from the state of Louisiana.
McKinley is listed at 6-foot-3, 270 pounds. He’s set to play his senior season of high school at Acadiana this fall. He took official visits to both Baton Rouge and Knoxville back in June ahead of making this decision.
LSU is now up to 17 commits in the class of 2026. The group ranks No. 9 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. LSU has plenty of room to add more blue-chip recruits in this cycle, so it could see that ranking rise higher into the top-10 before the Early Signing Period in December.
