South Carolina running back Rahsul Faison has been cleared to practice during fall camp.
His attorney, Darren Heitner, informed multiple media outlets of that development on Friday afternoon. Faison missed South Carolina’s first day of fall camp this week as he had previously not been cleared to practice as he awaits a final eligibility decision from the NCAA.

— Pete Nakos (@PeteNakos_) August 1, 2025If eligible, Faison is expected to be South Carolina’s starting running back this year. However, there remains significant doubt about whether or not Faison will be deemed eligible for a seventh year of college football.

Last year at Utah State, Faison enjoyed a breakout season as he rushed for 1,109 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Gamecocks are being tasked with replacing Rocket Sanders, who had a huge role in their offense in 2024. If Faison is not cleared to play this fall, South Carolina will have to rely on unproven players such as Osacar Adaway and Isaiah Augustave in the backfield.
There’s no known timetable for Faison to receive a final decision from the NCAA. In previous years, there have been cases where the NCAA has taken its decision right up to the start of the season. Notably, North Carolina receiver Tez Walker was denied eligibility on Sept. 7, 2023, but had that decision reversed about a month later.
South Carolina opens the 2025 campaign against Virginia Tech on Aug. 31.
