THE New Orleans Saints have cut drama-filled Hunter Dekkers after just a WEEK into the training camp.
The start of the NFL season is just over a month away, and now the quarterback is looking for a new team.
Dekkers, 24, joined the Saints as an undrafted rookie back in May, having not played football since community college.
It is believed that he had impressed the coaches during a tryout at the rookie minicamp.
However, just two months later, Dekkers was released, according to Tina Howell.
The signal caller did boast previous Division-I college experience as he replaced Brock Purdy at Iowa State.
But he was forced to transfer away to the JUCO level.
This was after he was found guilty of illegal gambling and lost his NCAA eligibility.
He was found to have placed a $15 bet during the 2022 season on one of his own teams.
That same season, Dekkers impressed with 66 per cent of his passes being completed for 3,044 yards.
He also managed 19 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions.
The scandal surrounding him wrecked his chances of becoming a starter in 2023.
But at Iowa, he continued his good form on the pitch by throwing for 3,806 yards and 32 touchdowns.
His exit from the Saints has now left head coach Kellen Moore with just three quarterbacks to pick from.
He has Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and second-round draft pick Tyler Shough.
The three will have to compete for the starting spot following the retirement of Derek Carr.

The veteran left fans stunned by hanging up his cleats in May after injuring his shoulder.
Meanwhile, there have been some incomings at the Saints as former South Carolina punter Kai Kroeger has joined.
Tackle Jonathan Mendoza has also joined as a free agent on a one-year contract.
The 2025 season will be Moore’s first as the head coach of the Saints.
The Saints’ pre-season starts with a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on August 10.
This is followed by games with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Denver Broncos.
The Saints will start the NFL campaign at home against the Arizona Cardinals.
