West Indies T20I squad for Pakistan series announced, 4 changes made after 0-5 humiliation vs Australia

On Thursday, July 31, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the T20I squad of the West Indies National Cricket Team for the upcoming series against the Pakistan National Cricket Team.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) selection committee has made four changes to the T20I squad for the series against the Men In Green after the 0-5 humiliation at the hands of the Australia National Cricket Team.

The Men In Maroon recently suffered an embarrassing 0-5 whitewash against the Australia National Cricket Team at home. They didn't win a single match in the home series against the Aussies, losing 8 matches on the trot (three Tests and five T20Is).

West Indies would be looking to bounce back strongly against the comparatively weaker Pakistan team in the upcoming T20I series. The matches between the two teams are set to be played on August 1, 3, and 4 at Broward County Stadium in Florida.

A total of four players, who were part of the T20I series against Australia, will be missing the matches against the Men In Green. Those four players are Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, and Shimron Hetmyer.

Pacer Alzarri Joseph has been granted rest for the T20I series to manage his workload, keeping in mind the busy schedule, while Evin Lewis has been ruled out due to an injury and will be monitored ahead of the ODI series against Pakistan.

Also, Shimron Hetmyer and Brandon King are down with side strains, having picked up injuries in the fifth T20I against Australia. To deal with the absence of the aforementioned players, the selectors have added Shamar Joseph, Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, and Johnson Charles to the squad.

We'll put this behind us and look ahead to the Pakistan series - Shai Hope

Speaking after the 0-5 defeat to Australia, West Indies skipper Shai Hope had said that they need to make significant improvements in the batting department. He elaborated:

"Don't think we put up a good batting display. We came up against a quality opposition in Australia but as a batting group we didn't give ourselves the best chance. We were always one step behind the eight ball, but have to commend the bowling effort. Just didn't happen for us today.

"In the Caribbean, chasing is always better due to the dew and wind factor. But that's not something I can control. We have some clarity in the bowling unit, we executed better. We'll put this behind us and look ahead to the Pakistan series."
