Clock is ticking for anonymous lottery player to claim $276k jackpot – but they’ll immediately lose $86.3k when they do

THE CLOCK is ticking for one lucky lottery player to collect a stunning $276,000 prize.

The draw for this jackpot came back in the Spring, but the winnings are still unclaimed.

This lottery player in Minnesota has one year from the draw to claim their six-figure prize.

The winning ticket is dated to May 31, 2025.

But when the victor does claim their winnings, they won’t take all of it home with them.

A sizeable chunk of the cash will be taken away in tax.

The Minnesota Lottery website explains: “Current federal tax law requires the Lottery to withhold 24 percent in federal income taxes, and current Minnesota state law requires the Lottery to withhold 7.25 percent in Minnesota state income taxes.

“For non-resident aliens, current tax laws require that the Lottery withhold 30 percent in federal income taxes on all Lottery prizes and 7.25 percent in Minnesota state income taxes on Lottery prizes over $5,000.”

It means the winner could see more than $85,000 go off in tax.

The ticket was bought at a Corner Store in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.

But this lucky player is not the only winner facing a deadline to collect their prize.

One Florida Fantasy 5 winner has the staggering sum of $55,880 waiting for them.

What’s more, in Florida the cash has to be collected within 180 days of the draw.

This ticket was drawn on March 13, so time is running out for this player to pick up their prize.

The winning ticket was bought from a branch of Publix on Ava Way in St. Augustine.

Other looming deadlines for collection include winners of $37,619 and $60,328 prizes.

They come from tickets bought in Kissimmee and Miami respectively.

Both prizes have collection deadlines in October.
