In One of Hulk Hogans Last Interviews, He Made a Startling Confession

The wrestling community is currently mourning one of their true founding fathers, Hulk Hogan, who tragically died at 71 on July 24, 2025. His death was confirmed by Clearwater Police in Florida who stated that he was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue clues before he was taken to Morton Plant Hospital where he was pronounced dead from cardiac arrest.

Before his sudden passing, the Hulkster was in the midst of several projects, including launching his new company in partnership with the WWE, Real American Beer. Just before his death, Hulk gave an interview to New York comedian and street journalist Adam Glyn who flat out asked him about the rumors that he would drink beer before matches. And he answered honestly.

Glyn asked him if it was true that it is "good" to drink beers before/while working out because of its dehydrating nature that it gives you beer muscles.

"Well, the truth is, truth be told, before I wrestled, I always kept a case of beer in the dressing room," Hogan answered. "Cause the boys never had that treat. But when I was around, I had that little bit of stroke back then. ,I'd keep a case of beer and the boys would hit it before we'd go to the ring. Made the matches much better. But that was then and this is now. But I did drink a beer every once in a while, you know, before I'd work out just to have fun when the guys would come over. I didn't do it all the time, sure."

However, there was one day when he and his fellow wrestlers drank religiously and it was to honor Hogans late friend and fellow wrestler John Matuzak.

"Every year we'd have the John Matuszak Memorial Workout, and we'd start training at midnight," Hogan reminisced. "We train till the sun came up, and we train every single body part. And we drank beer the whole time."

In 2023 Hogan made the decision to stop drinking alcohol after witnessing behavior he didn't condone at a New Year's Eve party. He also battled a prescription pain pill addiction due to the many wrestling-related injuries he suffered.

A 2014 study from FiveThirtyEight found that many wrestlers have a shorter life expectancy than their peers, the death rate of wrestlers aged 50-55 about 20% higher than the general population.
