Pete Davidson is opening up about becoming a dad for the first time since he and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt announced they are expecting a baby.
At the New York premiere of The Home on July 22, a reporter for E! News congratulated the comedian on the news and asked, "What did Colin Jost and [John] Mulaney, what did they say to you? What advice have they given you?"
Davidson responded with, "Everybody's just been super excited for me because they know it's been my dream. And they all just have been like, you know, you're going to be great at this. It's the best thing you'll ever do in your life."
Along with Jost and Mulaney, Davidson says he also received "great advice" from pal Adam Sandler.
"It's been really nice that everyone's super excited," he continued. "When you do something, and we do anything, you want everyone to be excited. Especially having a child. So everybody's been great, I'm very lucky and very, very happy."
The interviewer also asked Davidson what he was most looking forward to with fatherhood.
"Just be able to take care of something and, you know, show it the childhood that, you know, I didn't have," he replied. "I assume you just try to give them what you didn't have, and what you didn't like, [you] not do."
Davidson had a rough childhood himself, with his father passing away in the 9/11 attacks when he was seven years old, leaving him and his sister to be raised by a single mother.
When asked how he knew Hewitt was the one for this next chapter, Davidson remarked "she's the best."
"It was very apparent." he said. "We both met through mutual friends who were just like, 'You guys should meet.' And then we met and we weren't really looking for anything, and we immediately were just like, 'Oh wow.'
"I would say she's female me and I'm male her and we just laugh all day, so we're stoked." Davidson added.
