Welcome to Plathville has quietly become one of TLC’s most polarizing shows. After a lackluster Season 6, the upcoming season is teasing a return to high-stakes drama, but could it also mark the beginning of the end of the TLC series? With tensions brewing on and off screen, Season 7 might be the show’s most pivotal yet, and its last.
In the run-up to this season's debut, rumors surrounding the Plath family have taken over social media. Fueling the fire are Olivia Plath, ex-wife of Ethan, and Veronica Peters, Micah's former girlfriend.

They’re airing out the family’s dirty laundry, and it’s not exactly flattering. Taking to social media, the women are sharing allegations of bad behavior, violence, offensive language, and more behind-the-scenes drama.

Veronica has taken to the Welcome to Plathville Reddit boards and Instagram to share details of her interactions with the family and the network. In recent weeks, she revealed one of the most damming elements of the season, a fight between Micah and his brother Isaac Plath, that left one brother in the hospital. Olivia shared a conversation on TikTok with Ethan recorded when they were married, that painted him in a very unflattering light.
This and other recent revelations are so explosive, TLC appeared to attempt to get ahead of them by sharing a short preview during a re-airing of the Season 6 finale on July 15. The clip shows one brother with a broken nose and a blood-splattered shirt, but didn't address any of the allegations against Ethan.
So why could Season 7 of Welcome to Plathville be the beginning of the end for the TLC series? The first and most important reason could be the fact that the silent pact between the cast and the production company has been broken.

At the start of Season 6, Olivia began speaking out against the family on social media. Her posts became even more pointed once Veronica joined in, using her platform to reveal Plath family secrets.
However, the core members of the clan have remained silent on social media, choosing not to address or dispute the allegations. Since they are under contract with the network, they’ll likely continue to keep quiet, for now, but Olivia and Veronica vow to keep talking until they're heard.
A second reason Season 7 of Welcome to Plathville could be its last is the absence of on-camera drama. One of the series' biggest draws was Ethan and Olivia's split from their conservative upbringing. Thereafter, the most tension on the show was divorce drama between parents Barry and Kim and Moriah's fractured romantic and personal relationships.
The final reason this could be the series' end is its absence of a family dynamic. Strained relationships seem to be pushing the Plaths further apart. What once felt like a show rooted in unity now appears to be driven by tension and bitterness.
In short, the Plaths only seem to come together when there’s a common target. Last season, their hostility was directed at Olivia, and if TLC’s official teaser is any clue, Veronica may be next in line.
Welcome to Plathville Season 7 begins July 22 at 10 pm ET on TLC.
