"Just heartbroken hearing about the tragic loss of @malcolmjamalwar due to an accidental drowning in Costa Rica," the Today personality captioned a photo that found the late actor posing with the meteorologist and his colleagues Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Shenielle Jones. "He was such a lovely young man. I’ve known him since his Cosby Show days. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his Mom and his family."

Fans mourned the "devastating" loss right alongside Roker, while sending him love as someone who knew Warner in person.
