The summer holiday season is now in full swing, and with it the promise of one more long bank holiday weekend before colder weather and shorter days set in again.
August brings a summer bank holiday for the whole of the UK, but at different times in the month.
For England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the long weekend falls at the end of the month, while in Scotland it will be at the start of August.
This means there will be some disruption to the dates on which state benefit and pension payments will be made.
It comes as a new review of the state pension age is launched in the UK.
The State Pension Age Review began on Monday 21 July and is set to report back by March 2029.
It will look at possible increases in the age at which people can retire and receive their state pension.

When a payment date falls on a weekend or a bank holiday, then the Department for Work and Pensions says the claimant is generally paid on the working day before.
There are two different summer bank holiday weekends across the UK in August, which means there will be some alterations to payment dates for benefits this month.
For England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the summer bank holiday falls over the last weekend of August.
Payments due on Monday 25 August for claimants in England and Wales will be paid on the Friday before the bank holiday weekend, Friday 23 August.
Benefit payments are administered by the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland, and in the event of a bank holiday, payments are made on the last working day before a bank holiday.
In Scotland, the summer bank holiday falls over the first weekend of August.
Payments due on Monday 4 August for claimants in Scotland will be made on the preceding Friday 1 August.

The basic state pension is paid directly into a claimant’s bank, building society, or credit union account in the same way as state benefits.
Pension payments are made on a four-week cycle, with the day on which it is paid dependent on the last two digits of a claimant’s national insurance (NI) number.
This is how NI numbers correspond to days of payment:
00 to 19: Monday 20 to 39: Tuesday 40 to 59: Wednesday 60 to 79: Thursday 80 to 99: FridayAs there are two different bank holiday weekends across the UK in August, it means claimants in England, Wales and Northern Ireland who would normally receive their pension payment on Monday 25 August can expect to be get it on the preceding Friday 23 August.
