Authorities in Lake County were searching for the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries, law enforcement said Saturday.
The collision was reported at approximately 3:10 a.m. along Route 173 near Crawford Road in Old Mill Creek. Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located the driver of a 1993 Kawasaki Ninja with serious injuries, sheriff’s officials said.
The driver, a 54-year-old McHenry man, was transported to an area hospital. His injuries were said to be non-life-threatening, police stated.
An initial investigation shows the Kawasaki was traveling eastbound on Route 173 when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle, authorities said. The collision caused the driver to lose control and crash.
Crash investigators located parts from the suspect’s car at the scene, and they were working to determine the vehicle’s make and model.
