As summer begins to wind down and families in the Chicago area look to take advantage of the warm temperatures, Six Flags Great America is offering a new way to experience the park over the next few weeks.
Deemed the “ultimate summer celebration” by the Gurnee park, “Great American Nights” is running from Friday through Sunday, Aug. 3, highlighting live music and specialty food offerings on top of thrill rides in the twilight.

Additionally, each Saturday night in this timeframe will include a nighttime parade and fireworks show, the latter beginning at 9:45 p.m.
Great American Nights will feature comfort food classics, such as fried pork rib tips, a BBQ loaded baked potato, catfish po’boy and grilled corn on the cob.

Six Flags Great America will maintain daily operations through Monday, Aug. 18, with the park returning to weekends-only operations through Labor Day weekend.
Outside of a day of operation scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 7, the park’s schedule for September and October is to be announced.
