WEBSTER, N.Y. — The Webster Volunteer Fire Department is sharing more details on a fight that broke out last Saturday night at the Webster Firemen’s Carnival.

The department says no weapons were involved and no one was injured in the fight among several people under 18 and an adult. The fight got attention after video started circulating on social media. Three people were taken into custody after the fight.

Webster Police officers who were there on patrol and a private security team broke up the fight, restoring order in less than a minute, according to the fire department. In total, 24 security members were there to stop the fight. The fire department released this statement, saying there was only one “significant incident” during the four-day fundraiser to support the department:

“The safety and enjoyment of our guests is our top priority. The Webster Fireman’s Carnival is a long standing tradition that supports our fire department and community, and we are committed to maintaining a family-friendly and secure environment. While this incident is disturbing, this incident was isolated and quickly mitigated.”

“Throughout the four days of carnival this was the only incident of significance. This is a testament to our security personnel and Webster Police Department. We thank the Webster Police Department, our security staff, and our community members for their cooperation and continued support.”

The annual Webster Firemen’s Carnival took place at the firemen’s field off Ridge Road from Wednesday, July 9, through Saturday, July 12.

The week before, sheriff’s deputies arrested three people at the Hilton Fire Department Carnival and say they found a loaded gun in a suspect’s car. Back in June, a 13-year-old was arrested at the Shortsville Firemen’s Carnival, accused of punching a security guard.

This year, the Spencerport Firemen’s Carnival implemented new security measures after fights broke out on the final day last year. Minors had to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at least 21 years old. Also last year, fights broke out at the East Rochester Carnival, causing people to run from the carnival grounds.
