Some of the world’s best darts players will be gathering in Blackpool this weekend for the 2025 World Matchplay.
Thirty-two competitors from across the globe will be stepping up to the oche in the hope of claiming the £200,000 top prize on offer.
England’s Luke Humphries will be there to defend his title, joined by world champion Luke Littler and Dutchman Michael van Gerwen, who is ranked world number three.
This is the 32nd year of the World Matchplay, sponsored by gambling firm Betfred, and will be followed by the Women’s World Matchplay at the end of July.

The 2025 World Matchplay will take place from Saturday, 19 July to Sunday, 27 July at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Matches have to be won by two clear legs, and as the tournament progresses, the number of legs increases.
If scores are tied after all legs are played and six extra legs, then the match will be decided by a sudden-death leg.

How much prize money is on offer?
Players will be gunning for the top prize of £200,000 and the Phil Taylor Trophy in this tournament.
The runner-up can expect to pocket £100,000 from the total prize fund of £800,000.
Semi-finalists get £50,000 each and quarter-finalists £30,000. Meanwhile, those who drop out after the second round receive £15,000 and first rounders £10,000.
