Oklahoma defensive back Robert Spears-Jennings knows what’s coming on Sept. 20.
Or, rather, he knows who’s coming to Norman to play a game that day as the visitor.
It’ll be quarterback Jackson Arnold, who transferred to Auburn after things just didn’t work out for him at Oklahoma. Arnold is “extremely excited” for the showdown between his old program and the new program he hopes to win a lot of games with. He said all the right things on Tuesday during Auburn’s session with reporters at SEC Media Days in Atlanta, even going so far as to praise Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables.
“It’ll be a challenge. Coach Venables is a fantastic defensive coach. Great defensive mind. He’ll throw some stuff my way (that) I probably won’t be expecting,” Arnold said to reporters on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, it was Oklahoma’s turn with reporters at SEC Media Days, and Spears-Jennings complimented the former OU quarterback while letting it be known how much the game will mean to Arnold.
“Jackson’s a great guy, on and off the field. He has confidence, and he makes a lot of good throws. I feel like this year it’s time for him to really shine. About him coming back to Norman, he’s going to try to (have a) redemption game … we’re waiting for him to come and (we’ll) have fun,” said Spears-Jennings.
