A man was seriously injured after he was shot in the South Loop neighborhood Saturday night.
According to Chicago police, the 35-year-old became involved in a verbal altercation in the 700 block of South Wells at approximately 11:24 p.m. Saturday.
That altercation escalated into gunfire when a suspect pulled out a weapon, and the victim was shot in the lower back, police said. He also suffered a graze wound to his chin, and the suspect fled the scene.
The unidentified victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
No suspects are in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating the shooting.
