A 64-year-old man pleaded guilty on Friday, July 11, and was sentenced to time served in jail for attempting to open a new Botox business in Brea — two weeks after he was released from prison for unlicensed doctoring.
Elias Renteria Segoviano accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Larry Yellin and pleaded guilty to two felony counts of unauthorized practice of medicine and a misdemeanor count of false indications of a medical license.
Yellin sentenced Segoviano to 70 days in jail, time he had already served in the case.
Segoviano pleaded guilty in April 2023 to multiple counts of unlawfully practicing medicine and was sentenced to four years in prison but was released after a year and four months, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Segoviano was released from prison Dec. 22, 2023, but on Jan. 4, 2024, he attempted to open a new office where he intended to continue providing Botox injections and face-thread-lifting procedures without a license, prosecutors said.
