(BCN) -- A truck carrying lumber crashed on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa, sending debris across both directions of the freeway and injuring a motorist Thursday evening, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 6:19 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 at College Avenue, as officers were investigating an earlier collision nearby at Highway 12, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The lumber truck swerved to avoid stopped traffic and struck the center divider, scattering lumber across northbound and southbound lanes, the CHP's area office in Santa Rosa said.
(CHP Santa Rosa)(CHP Santa Rosa)(CHP Santa Rosa)A northbound Subaru vehicle was hit by the flying debris and subsequently crashed into the median. It driver suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation, the CHP said.
Cleanup and investigation shut down the two left lanes in both directions. Northbound lanes reopened first, followed by the southbound lanes. All lanes were cleared by 10:36 p.m.
