The year 2026 has been pivotal in Majo Aguilar‘s career. In addition to winning Premio Lo Nuestro’s female artist of the year award in February and recently receiving two nominations at the HEAT Latin Music Awards, the Mexican singer signed an exclusive global deal with Universal Music Publishing Group Mexico. Now, she’s gearing up for her first performance at the Auditorio Nacional, one of Mexico’s most prestigious venues.

“I’m so excited to perform at this iconic place, accompanied by mariachi and banda,” Aguilar says. “It’s a gift from life that I’m embracing wholeheartedly.”
The singer, who continues the family tradition started by her grandfather, ranchera music icon Antonio Aguilar, will take the stage on Nov. 13 to perform classics of Mexican music and hits from her own repertoire, such as “No Voy a Llorar,” “Lo Busqué” and “Cuéntame,” alongside a lineup of special guests to be revealed.
The day before, she will release her new album, Caprichos, featuring covers of songs like “A Través del Vaso,” “Así Fue” and “Se Me Olvidó Otra Vez,” all interpreted with a distinctive style highlighted by her deep voice and emotional intensity. The set will also include two original songs written by Aguilar herself.
Additionally, before the year ends, she will record a track for the third installment of Tributo al Rey Vicente Fernández, a series of collaborations that pairs the voice of the King of Ranchera Music with those of emerging stars in the regional Mexican music scene.
Last September, during the premiere of Digger in Mexico City, Aguilar was invited to interact with actor Tom Cruise and director Alejandro González Iñárritu. Accompanied by mariachi, she surprised them with a corrido she said she had written especially for the occasion, a humorous moment that went viral.
Below, Aguilar speaks about all of this with Billboard Español.
How would you describe 2026 in your career?
It’s been a very beautiful year for me. I’ve had so much work, thank God, with nominations and a few awards. But most importantly, the public supports me, and that’s why things happen.
You must be thrilled to take the stage at the Auditorio Nacional…
It’s a gift from life that I’m embracing wholeheartedly. I’d like to declare that this is the first of many. So I’m enjoying it very much.
What can you tell us about the Nov. 13 show?
It will be at least two hours long, and so far I can reveal that I have seven confirmed guests. I’m happy because everyone I invited immediately said yes. I will have both mariachi and banda, offering two very different moments. Mariachi is very sentimental, while banda brings the party and total chaos.
Do you think it’s important for young people to continue the tradition of Mexican music?
Mariachi may sometimes be on the charts and sometimes not, but it’s everywhere. It will never die; it’s our music, and it’s forever. In fact, I’m very excited to be part of the next Tributo al Rey Vicente Fernández album. It’s an honor for me that Vicente Fernández Jr. invited me to sing one of his father’s songs. These songs are timeless.
Tell us about your new album, Caprichos.
It will be released just one day before my performance at the Auditorio Nacional. I had just finished an album of original songs, and while listening to songs I’ve always loved, I decided to start recording them. The title Caprichos [Spanish for “Caprices”] reflects that these are personal whims. These tracks aren’t necessarily banda or mariachi, but I arranged them that way. I love them all, which is why they’re included. If I had to choose favorites, “Por Debajo de la Mesa” and “Almohada” come to mind. “Vete” is a self-love anthem I wrote, and “No Vuelvas” is my other original song.
A few days ago, you sang to Tom Cruise at the premiere of Digger. How was that experience?
I was invited to sing a corrido for the character Digger, but I asked if I could write it myself. It was short, but after singing it, I translated it for Tom Cruise, and he liked it. It was a very lovely experience.
After such a big year, what’s next for Majo Aguilar in 2027?
That’s a very interesting question — because it’s something I’ve been asking myself — and I’m already working on my next album. I can’t reveal much yet, but I can say it will feature original songs of mine with, beyond mariachi and banda, lots of fun.
