Will there be a Too Much season 2?

Too Much has charmed many viewers with its heartfelt London-set story, which sees two lost souls find solace in one another as they attempt to move on from their past traumas.

Suffice to say, it's a bumpy ride, with screenwriter Lena Dunham weaving some hard-hitting subplots into an otherwise lighthearted story, which gives Hacks breakout Megan Stalter and A Real Pain's Will Sharpe plenty of opportunities to shine.

Of course, the multi-hyphenate creator is best known for HBO's acclaimed sitcom Girls, which spanned more than 60 episodes across six seasons – and Too Much fans are wondering whether this latest series will have similar legs.

If you're among those who would like to see the Jess (Stalter) and Felix (Sharpe) saga continue, read on for everything we know so far about the future of Too Much on Netflix.

Will there be a Too Much season 2?

It's yet to be announced whether Too Much will return for a second season, but the series has not been billed as a limited series or miniseries, which suggests that it could continue if there was sufficient demand.

Netflix famously tracks viewership of shows very closely in their first month of availability, considering not only the number of watchers, but also how many of them actually finished the programme in question.

That means, at this stage, the best thing you can do for Too Much's chances of renewal is watch the series in full yourself and spread the word to anyone else who might be interested.

Notably, Dunham has recently entered into a production deal with Netflix – the next title of which is Natalie Portman romcom Good Sex – so it's possible the streamer may want to nurture that arrangement with a confident renewal.

We'll bring you more updates on the future of Too Much as they come in.

If Too Much were to be renewed for a second season, we'd expect it to materialise within 12-18 months of the first release, which would suggest a launch date in summer/autumn 2026.

The first season filmed across several months in 2024, with the crew heading to London, Buckinghamshire and New York City for the bulk of production.

What could happen in a potential Too Much season 2?

It's not clear what could happen in a potential Too Much season 2, but the series would likely deal with a major status quo change as Jessica (Megan Stalter) and Felix (Will Sharpe) tie the knot.

Of course, the real experiences of Lena Dunham and her now-husband Luis Felber provided a launchpad into the world of Too Much, but the screenwriter has clarified that a significant amount of the plot and character work is fictional.

Therefore, the story wouldn't necessarily have to go in a strictly autobiographical direction should it continue, as it could instead put Jessica and Felix in completely original and challenging scenarios as their relationship continues.

Who could star in a potential Too Much season 2?

If Too Much is renewed for a second season, we'd expect stars Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe to reprise their roles as lovebirds Jessica and Felix.

The supporting Too Much cast featured a number of big name stars including Richard E Grant (The Franchise), Emily Ratajkowski (Gone Girl) and Prasanna Puwanarajah (Payback), who could potentially feature again.

Alas, one character who won't return is Jessica's adorably ugly dog Astrid, who suffered a health crisis in the season finale and sadly passed away. Fortunately, canine actor Mia is still alive and working with Urban Paws Agency.
