At long last, the trailer for the anticipated Outlander prequel series, Blood of My Blood, is here – and boy, is it a dramatic one.
The newly released trailer not only gives us a glimpse at the parallel love stories set to unfold for Outlander favourites Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire's (Caitríona Balfe) parents, but it also teases plenty more time travel, tears, steamy scenes and all-out war.
Opening with a focus on Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), the resemblance between Claire's mother Julia is stark to say the least, something that fans will surely pick up on in no time.
But as we get a flitting montage of images of their love story – complete with a newborn baby, love letters sent to the frontline and wiling days away in fields together – we then see the pair involved in what looks to be a car accident.
With Julia left alone by the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, we see her look increasingly confused as it becomes all too clear that her story is set to pick back up in 1714. Queue the love story of Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy).
Similarly to Julia, many Outlander fans may be left doing a double-take when they see Jamie Roy take up the mantle as Brian Fraser, a seemingly spitting image of Heughan.
As we see Henry struggle to cope with the disappearance of Julia, we see how she becomes embroiled in the Scottish 16th century landscape she's now found herself in. But will she be able to find her way back home?

But it turns out that Julia is the one to spur on Ellen in creating her own love story, encouraging her to pursue things with Brian in secret, even if that means severing the bond with her family.
We also get a glimpse at what looks to be Ellen's wedding to another man, telling Brian: "I'll find a way out, I swear it."
Safe to say, we'll be seated when the series premieres this August – as it looks set to be packed full of drama.
The series is set to comprise of 10 episodes, unfolding across two timelines – but we wouldn't expect anything less of Outlander now, would we?
The official synopsis for the series reads: "Outlander: Blood of My Blood introduces viewers to two new couples – Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) – who fight against all odds to be together as their love stories unfold across time.
"From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated love stories must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways."
As well as the leading cast, the trailer also provides us with glimpses at Sam Retford's Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander's Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and Conor MacNeill's Ned Gowan. But we know that the cast is jam-packed full of talent, with the likes of Tony Curran, Séamus McLean Ross, the late Brian McCardie and plenty more.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Saturday 9th August in the UK on MGM+ in the UK. You can buy Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books on Amazon.
