John Williams has been one of cinema's most cherished and prolific composers for more than half a century, but there is arguably no spell in his career that is quite as remarkable as his incredible streak in the mid-to-late-'70s.
Within a space of three years between 1975 and 1978, Williams penned the scores for Jaws, Star Wars and Superman – among a number of others – all of which remain among the most iconic pieces of music in the history of pop culture.
All this to say, it's no surprise that the score for James Gunn's new take on the Man of Steel borrows liberally from that original music, with the main theme in particular heard at numerous key moments in the film.
That forms part of a new score written by Gunn's regular collaborator John Murphy alongside David Fleming – the track list of which you can find below.
Of course, in the past Gunn has also notably made use of pop and rock music to soundtrack his films – most memorably in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
He's not done that to nearly the same extent in this film, but there are one or two recognisable tunes, in addition to an original song co-written by Gunn and performed by in-universe band The Mighty Crabjoys – which plays over the closing credits.
