MICROSOFT Outlook is down for millions of people who are unable to access their emails.
Some users are being told their licence is not valid despite being up-to-date with their subscription payments.
Others are receiving a message saying: “Something went wrong. Please try the recommended action below.”
A search health information grab from the tech giant shared on X said: “Users may be unable to access their mailbox using any connection methods.”
It added: “We’re continuing to investigate mailbox infrastructure and suspect an issue with an authentication component may be causing impact.
“We’re further investigating the affected component to inform our next steps.
One customer wrote online: “It seems that a bunch accounts have been caught in a system error in which it shows that there are no payment details available for the accounts in the issue.
“Currently any Exchange Emails are not being Received or Sent from any email platform I have tried (Outlook or Gmail).”
Another person said: “Seems Outlook has been down globally for multiple hours. Can’t log in on desktop or web or app. And no word yet from @Outlook or @Microsoft.”
It comes just months after Outlook, as well as a slew of other services came to a grinding halt.
Microsoft was facing a widespread outage in March that has affected not just Outlook, but also Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange, and the Microsoft Store.
The global outage has echoes of last year’s massive disruption when cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike suffered a major outage.
It also crippled access to essential services, sparking outrage from users.
That incident raised questions about cloud service vulnerabilities and how tech giants can handle multiple simultaneous outages.
With Microsoft facing its own service collapse, the tech world is bracing for answers as users are left in limbo.
