Birmingham’s Boutwell Auditorium is set to host some intriguing exhibition basketball in the fall. Boutwell Auditorium hosted its first basketball game in more than 45 years last year when Alabama and Wake Forest’s men’s and women’s teams played exhibition contests last year. Now it’s expanding to 4 total games.
The Ballin’ in Boutwell lineup is set for October. It starts with Alabama A&M vs. Samford on Oct. 13, followed by Auburn vs. Oklahoma State on Oct. 15 and Alabama vs. Florida State on Oct. 16. UA and FSU’s women’s teams will face off earlier in the day.
While Auburn and Alabama are intense rivals on the hardwood, AU associate head coach Steven Pearl acknowledged UA’s success, calling the event a showcase for the state.
This might be the best basketball state in the country, collectively, when you look at the strength of the programs we have in this state,” Pearl said in a released statement. “The Southeastern Conference has run through this state since 2018. That speaks to the competitiveness of the rivalry and the fans we have in the state who are hungry for basketball.
Despite the Crimson Tide and Seminoles not being regular opponents, there is some intrigue in the matchup with Taylor Bol Bowen having transferred from FSU to Alabama following the 2024-25 season.
