DENVER (KDVR) -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was hit by multiple vehicles early Sunday morning on a highway in Delta County.
Delta County 911 received a call just before 5 a.m. of a body found on the side of U.S. 50 near Starr Nelson Road just outside Delta, according to a Facebook post from the Delta County Sheriff's Office. Deputies and Delta police officers responded and found the body, then closed the road.
The Colorado State Patrol several minutes later just after 5 a.m. received a call from a driver who said they may have hit a person.
According to CSP in a press release, the person was hit by multiple vehicles, and two drivers have come forward and are cooperating with investigators. Evidence at the scene suggests an additional suspect vehicle could also be involved.
CSP said the westbound lanes of the highway were expected to be closed until about 1 or 2 p.m. Sunday.
