The crash occurred at 5:06 p.m. Saturday at 42nd Street and Orange Avenue, according to San Diego Police Officer J. Perales.
A 43-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man were trying to cross from the north sidewalk of Orange Avenue to the south side while inside the crosswalk when they were struck by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 19-year-old woman northbound on 42nd Street, Perales said.
The female pedestrian suffered a broken pelvis and had pain in her legs and back and the man had head injuries and pain in his neck, the officer said.
The Hyundai driver remained at the scene. Alcohol was not believed a factor in the crash, Perales said, but it was unclear why the crash occurred.
