The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in unincorporated Round Lake Friday night.
According to authorities, a 67-year-old man attempted to cross Fairfield Road near Nippersink Road at approximately 9:10 p.m. when he was struck by a Nissan Versa driven by a 22-year-old woman.
The man was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries, sheriff’s officials said.
The driver was uninjured in the collision and remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to officials.
A preliminary investigation indicated the pedestrian was not wearing reflective or contrasting clothing and was not crossing the street in a crosswalk at the time of the collision, police said.
No further information was immediately available, and an investigation remains underway.
