Naya Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, shared a heartwarming story about how his son remembers his mother in the most endearing way.
Ahead of the late actress’ death anniversary, the “Big Sky” star opened up about how their lives had changed after her passing.
The 41-year-old actor remained fully committed to raising their nine-year-old son, Josey, with love and support.
To help Josey cope with the tragic loss of his mother, Dorsey arranged for him to see a grief counselor, guiding him through the emotional aftermath with care and sensitivity.
In addition, Dorsey shared that his son had been channeling his emotions through music and revealed the touching reason behind it.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the father-of-one, who described Josey as a “creative” person, said he was into playing piano and had expressed his desire to be a musician when he grows up.
“He’s starting to really hit the notes when he’s singing,” he said.
The “Justified” actor also revealed that his ex-wife had a profound influence on their son’s dream of pursuing a music career in the future.

He recalled the conversation they had and shared, “He said to me the other day, ‘Dad, I think I might want to be a musician. My mom is a singer, so why not me?’ I just thought that was a beautiful thing.”
Rivera and the “Pitch” actor tied the knot in 2014 and welcomed their son a year later. After experiencing the ups and downs of their marriage, their divorce was finalized in 2018.
Tragically, the “Baywatch” actress died on July 8 after drowning in Lake Piru near Santa Clarita, California. At the time, her then-four-year-old son, who had been with her during the boating trip, was found alone on the boat.
Reports later revealed that the actress had exhausted herself while getting her son to safety, ultimately sacrificing her own life. Her body was recovered by the search and rescue team five days later.
