Katy Perry has something to celebrate.
It was reported that her iconic 2010 track, "Teenage Dream," hit one billion streams on Spotify, making it her tenth song to reach that milestone. 15 years after its release, the song still remains one of Perry's most beloved tracks, and this feat marks another testament to her lasting impact im pop culture. "Teenage Dream" now joins the 40-year-old's growing list of billion-stream club hits, which includes “California Gurls,” “Dark Horse,” “Roar,” and more.
The news comes after her recent split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom was confirmed by reps of both parties. The two were together for approximately nine years and welcomed their daughter, Daisy, in 2020.
"Teenage Dream" was released as the second single from her third studio album of the same name on July 23, 2010. Written by Perry and Bonnie McKee and produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Benny Blanco, the tune reflects that feeling of young teenage love, and Perry described the song as reminiscent of her youth. "Teenage Dream" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2011, making it her third nomination in that category.
Currently, Perry is on tour to support her most recent album, 143, which was released in September 2024. The tour started in April in Mexico City and is set to end in Abu Dhabi in December. She just finished the Australian leg of the tour this past weekend and is set to perform her West Coast shows starting in Denver next Thursday.
Fans can listen to "Teenage Dream" and her whole discography on all streaming platforms.
