6 Nighttime Habits of Celebrities Over 50 With Beautiful Skin

Celebrities have access to the best products and experts, but just as important are the personal daily habits that accumulate over time and make a big difference to how someone looks and feels. And no amount of money or expert can take the place of a consistent and healthy self-care routine.

Minnie Driver, 55, says she uses a cleansing oil instead of a foaming cleanser. "I feel like I scrubbed my face for years before I realized you can actually use these lovely oils. It takes off makeup, it takes off everything," she says in a video forHarper's Bazaar.

Similarly, Shania Twain, 59, uses olive oil and sugar to wash her face before bed. "I've learned that anything oil-based does break down the makeup," she says.

    2. Hydrate With Cocoa Butter

Driver says she's loved using cocoa butter since she was a kid, and prefers Palmer's Cocoa Butter which is available at the drugstore for about $7. "I use it on my elbows, my heels, my feet, my knees. It's incredible for sunburn," she says. "It's just deeply, deeply hydrating."

    3. No Phones in Bed

We've all heard this before, but maybe if Jennifer Aniston says it, we'll actually do it. Of course a good night's sleep is essential to overall health and beauty, and a trick that can help you to get your beauty sleep is unplugging an hour before bed.

Aniston, 56, also does "some yoga poses that I’ve found to be quite helpful in relaxing my mind, even if it’s just a simple downward dog and some stretching. But the biggest thing is the electronics shutdown, ideally an hour before I turn off the lights. It’s really a big deal," she told Arianna Huffington.

    4. Take a Bath

Relaxing with a bath at the end of the day can help lower your overall stress level. When cortisol spikes, it can impact your skin, leading to breakouts and the breakdown of collagen and elastin. Oprah Winfrey, 71, and Gwyneth Paltrow, 52, both take baths as part of their nighttime routine, and a wonderful-smelling bath oil doesn't hurt either.

    5. Use a Soft Face Cloth

Demi Moore has said she uses a special cloth to wash her face before bed. The Original Makeup Eraser Pro for $20 is her cloth of choice:  “This thing literally takes everything off,” she told Harper's Bazaar.

A cloth with soft fibers is a good option for people with sensitive skin. Another plus is it's reusable.

    6. Sleep in a Cool Environment

Drew Barrymore, 50, loves a cooling comforter by Evercool, she previously told People. “More recently, I’ve become a bit of a hot sleeper (thanks, hormones), which really affects how well I sleep and whether I can make it throughout the night without waking up.” Her daughters "started stealing my comforter and wouldn't stop fighting over it, so I had to get them their own sets,” she said.
