Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has deferred its planned mass leave after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assured stringent action against those responsible for assaulting Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
In a late-night meeting on Monday, lasting nearly an hour, the Chief Minister met OASA representatives alongside the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Commissioner of Police, and AG.
Addressing concerns over the assault, CM Majhi vowed that the perpetrators, regardless of their influence, would face severe legal consequences. He informed the association that three suspects have been arrested, with a manhunt ongoing for others involved.
Urging OASA members to forgo the planned leave, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice.
In response, the OASA postponed the mass leave scheduled for Tuesday. However, the association instructed its district units and members to hold meetings condemning the incident and submit resolutions to the state body.
Solidarity was also expressed by other associations, including the IAS, OFS, OSS, and others, who have pledged their support to OASA’s cause.
