An Aug. 15 trial date has been set for a woman charged with murder in the 2024 death of a homeless man downtown.
Ashley Ann Bonk, 29, is accused of killing Charles Hughes, 38, who was struck in the head in the 900 block of 4th Avenue on March 21, 2024. Initially, the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Hughes’ condition did not improve and he died on March 29, according to San Diego police.
Bonk was arrested on April 8, 2024 in the 1200 block of Park Boulevard.
Police also arrested a 17-year-old girl on April 10 in the 1100 block of C Steet on murder charges, but her name is not public because she is a minor. Juvenile Court handled her case.
