Five-time major champion Iga Świątek, a noted Taylor Swift fan, is in danger of being exiled from the fan club.
The tennis star, 24, who has long professed her love of the pop star, was asked to participate in the “Shakespeare or Swift” trend in a video posted via Instagram by the Bad Homburg Open on Wednesday, June 25.
The trend asks participants to hear a quote and determine whether it was written by William Shakespeare or Swift.
First up, Świątek was asked to identify: “On the very moment all was lost.”

“That’s it? That’s the whole line?” Świątek asked, before incorrectly guessing Shakespeare.
The lyric is from Swift’s 2020 song “Evermore,” featuring Bon Iver.
“Oh, my God. But your voice made it sound like Shakespeare,” Świątek said to the social media admin reading the clues. “Come on, don’t make it harder.”
Up next, ”In black ink, my love may still shine bright.”
Świątek incorrectly guessed Swift, when it’s really a line from Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 65.”
“I’m bad at that,” Świątek said after going 0 for 2.

Thankfully the next quote, “What will become of me once I’ve lost my novelty,” was Świątek’s first correct guess.
The lyric comes from “Nothing New,” a song released on Red (Taylor’s Version) in 2021, featuring Phoebe Bridgers.
“All that glitters is not gold,” was next, which Świątek incorrectly guessed as a Swift lyric. The famous line comes from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.
“Oh, my God, Swifties are gonna kick me out,” an exasperated Świątek said.
Finally, Świątek was asked to identify, “We know what we are, but know not what we may be.”
The line, from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, was correctly named by Świątek, who gave a sarcastic wink to the camera.
“I knew that,” she said.
The “Shakespeare or Swift” video asked for fans to go easy on Świątek after her spotty performance.
“Swifties x @iga.swiatek fans — this one’s for you! (Please don’t kick her out of the fandom though, okay? ),” the video was captioned. “P.S. Yes, our social team are Swifties too. Obviously. .”

The comments section was filled with support for Świątek, with one fan writing, “That’s funny IGA, don’t worry, he deliberately chose similar quotes to be sneaky You still managed to hit a few .”
Świątek attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Liverpool, England, in June 2024, where the tennis star received a handwritten note from Swift congratulating her on her then-recent French Open victory.
“I’m dead ,” the tennis star wrote via X. “Yes, I cried many times during the show.”
She added, “Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing @taylorswift13 .”
