First Alert Weather: More comfortable today as heatwave ends

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After the oppressive heat and humidity early this week, we are returning to more comfortable weather as a weak cold front moves south through our area today. It’ll still be warm out though, with highs in the mid 80s, and the day will get less humid as it goes on with dew points starting in the upper 60s and dropping to the lower 60s. Winds will pick up a little as the day goes on, peaking at around 15 MPH this evening. The weak cold front may kick up some showers in the Southern Tier.

A weak warm front moves back north through the area overnight, causing some showers Thursday morning. Thursday will still be cooler than today however, with highs in the upper 70s. A low pressure system will start to form over the midwest which will bring in a stronger warm front and unsettled weather Friday, then the cold front attached to the low will do the same thing early Saturday. We are watching these Saturday storms closely to see if they may become strong or severe, so stay tuned for updates.

Sunday should be the pick of the weekend as a brief period of drier weather scoots in. More chances for showers and thunder early next week.
