DENVER (KDVR) — The Larimer County Sheriff's Office announced Sunday afternoon that a dead body had been found at Watson Lake on Sunday morning.
The agency said that the body is believed to be the subject of a local missing person's case, but said the Larimer County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the person, as well as cause and manner of death, at a later time.
The agency closed Watson Lake for some time during the recovery, but the body of water has since been reopened to the public.
On Thursday, FOX31 spoke with a longtime friend of Larry Baker, 80, who was last seen by his family on Monday, June 16.
He was reported missing at about 5 p.m. on June 17, and the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said that his car and fishing gear were located at Watson Lake on Tuesday, June 17.
Amy Vandegrift told FOX31 on Thursday that Baker was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors and was also a Marine.
Officials have not said whether Baker has been located, nor did they identify him as the body found on Sunday.
