Love Island USA Fans Revolt Over ‘What’s Your Beef?’ Challenge

When it comes to gag-worthy cringe, Love IslandUSA isn’t afraid to push the limits, especially when food is involved. Over the years, the show has churned out plenty of challenges that left viewers feeling queasy, but the latest one might just be the final straw.

In Season 7, Episode 16, which aired Friday, June 20, the Islanders were treated to a messy, milky spectacle called “What’s Your Beef?”

“The girls are dressed in milk maid outfits and the boys are in leather chaps,” narrator Matthew Hoffman quipped as the contestants skipped their way to the challenge.

Each couple had to complete a farm-themed obstacle course, with the girls holding their blindfolded partners’ legs and guiding them around barrels in a wheelbarrow-style race. Once they reached the trough, the Islanders had to bob for floating apples with other Islanders’ faces taped to them, then kiss the person they chose.

And then came the milking station.

Boys squeezed milk from fake udders above their heads, filled their mouths with it, and transferred that milk — mouth to mouth — into their partner’s. Once enough liquid landed in the “bucket of truth,” they’d read a question aloud (“Who’s been spreading muck behind people’s backs?” etc.), pick the Islander who best fit the prompt, and dump the milk on them. All of this, of course, was capped off with a steamy, dairy-soaked kiss on a picnic blanket.

In case you were wondering, “It smells so bad I like actually [am] gagging thinking about it,” Hannah Fields said in a confessional.

As for the internet? Viewers were one bucket of milk away from logging off.

"This milk challenge might be the most disgusting challenge in the history of love island ????," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"I could do love island but i draw the line at this whole boy drinking milk straight from the udder and spitting it into my mouth baby bird style. that’s where i draw the line. MILK. BAKING IN THE FIJI SUN?! FROM THE MOUTH OF ANOTHER BEING?!?!" another said.

"Not them squeezing cow utters with milk and spitting it into their partner's mouth. Whoever thought this was a good idea to add in this challenge I hope both sides of your pillow are extra warm ?," chimed in a third.

making them transfer that milk mouth to mouth then throwing it on someone … love island you’re SICKKKKK #LoveIslandUSA pic.twitter.com/GfmUWZGnT8

"Petition for love island to stop doing food challenges ❗️? esp w real milk ??" someone else posted.

"These food challenges on love island aren’t even raunchy they’re just nauseating like wym they’re spitting milk into each other’s mouths then dumping it on someone…" another added.

This isn’t the first time the hit Peacock dating show has pushed its luck with food.

Over the years, viewers have endured challenges like the “Spit the Roast,” where couples passed a full Sunday dinner between each other mouth-to-mouth, and Season 6’s Fourth of July challenge, where hot dogs, pulled pork, and condiments were relayed from one Islander to another — no hands allowed.

The backlash around food challenges has been so intense that Love Island UK officially banned them in 2022. The U.S. version, though? Still very much on the menu.
