Sachin Tendulkars ex-teammate gives Michael Vaughan belt treatment over IND-ENG Test series prediction

Former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu brutally roasted ex-England captain Michael Vaughan for his prediction about the ongoing Test series between India and England. Navjot Singh Sidhu delivered a merciless takedown and openly called Vaughan a 'fool', sparking reactions across social media.

India kicked off their Test series with a dominant batting display on Day 1 of the first Test in Leeds on Friday, June 20. After being asked to bat first, the visitors posted their highest-ever opening-day Test total in England, 359/3, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (101) and captain Shubman Gill (127*) scoring centuries.

Before the Test series began, Michael Vaughan predicted a 3-1 win for England against India. He dismissed India’s chances, citing their lack of experience and the absence of key players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

"They arrive again to lose," Michael Vaughan had earlier said of India.

Navjot Singh Sidhu responded to Vaughan’s pre-series prediction. In a video shared by Star Sports, Sidhu mocked Vaughan’s track record with predictions, adding that his predictions are always wrong.

“Fools grow without watering. Michael Vaughan, your predictions. They’re always wrong,” Sidhu said in a video shared by Star Sports.

Vaughan had made a bold prediction during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, backing a 4–0 in favor of Australia after India’s heavy defeat in the opening Test at Adelaide. However, India proved him wrong by bouncing back to seal a 2-1 series victory.

There Is No Suffering That Pity Will Not Insult - Navjot Singh Sidhu

Navjot Singh Sidhu mocked England’s current bowling unit, calling them “pedestrians.” He said Indian batters were stepping out and treating them like spinners. Sidhu described Michael Vaughan’s situation as pitiful.

"BGT and then the South Africans are never going to win against Australia. I hope you're not predicting an India win now. Look at your bowling attack. They're pedestrians. Three of the Indian batsmen are stepping out and hitting them like spinners," Sidhu said.

"Boss noise proves nothing. Even a hen while laying an egg cackles as if she's laying asteroid. Stop making noise, do something. There is no suffering that pity will not insult. Man you're in a pitiable situation," he added.

India Take Control on Opening Day of First Test Against England

India showed their dominance on Day 1 of the first Test at Headingley after England captain Ben Stokes chose to bowl first. Indian batters made the most of favorable conditions to post a total of 359/3 by stumps.

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul set the tone early with a 91-run partnership. Rahul was dismissed for 42, and debutant Sai Sudharsan departed for a duck. Jaiswal scored 101 off 159 deliveries, including 16 fours and a six, before being dismissed by Ben Stokes.

Captain Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 127 off 175 balls. He found strong support in vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who remained not out on 65 from 102 balls, striking six fours and two sixes. With seven wickets in hand, India will aim to post a massive first-innings total on Day 2.
