Zimmern gave a heartfelt speech about Burrell at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen on June 19.

“This week we lost Anne,” he said, becoming emotional. “And I know our entire community is beyond saddened.”

Zimmerman called Burrell a beautiful, gifted soul,” a “trailblazer on the Food Network,” a “brash, bold, loud New Yorker, and a woman who had a tremendous capacity for love.” He added that she was “in the prime of life taken from us too soon.”

Zimmern continued, “This community puts a lot of weight on how much we want to care for each other and we’ve done such an incredible job of it over the last 10 years. I can’t think of another community that has done such an incredible job looking out for each other, but I honestly don’t think we’re doing enough. When we lose someone like Anne, I don’t think we’re doing enough.”

He concluded, “Anne would want us to be laughing, to hunt down some late-night karaoke, to dance and belly up, to eat and drink and celebrate life this weekend. And while taken from us long before we would ever want to let her go, she is gone. May her memory be a blessing to her friends, her family, her fans and all who loved her.”

    Bobby Flay

Flay shared a photo of Burrell holding two fluffy cats via his Instagram Stories on June 18, writing, “Worst Cooks in America was the funnest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just along for the Anne Burrell ride. The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho) … a gift I’ll have forever. #unforgettable.”

    Duff Goldman

Food Network star Goldman recalled his “complex” relationship with Burrell via an Instagram post on June 18.

“I’ve written and re-written this post so many times in the past 24 hours and I just don’t know what to say,” Goldman captioned his tribute. “Anne and I became friends in probably 2006. She was going through some stuff and I had heard that she was feeling it so on a trip to NYC from Baltimore I had made her a cake that said ‘Don’t let the bastards win.’ She never did.”

Goldman said that although he and Burrell “drifted” apart, he “always hoped that wherever she was, Anne was doing well and was finding some happiness.”

“Anne was as tough as they come, but when you got past the armor there was a depth of compassion and kindness that was absolutely beautiful. My heart sings when I think of the love and tranquility that it seems Anne had found recently,” he continued. “Anne, wherever you are, I hope they have slow moving rivers because when I get there, we’ll get a couple of rods, a pint of chicken livers, and a sixer, and I’ll teach you how to catch and cook the best catfish you ever had. Rest up, chef.”

Anne was a rockstar!,” she wrote, in part. “Anne honored me by asking me to be her bridesmaid, something I’d only done once before for my sister. Despite being surrounded by incredible chefs, she never once made me feel self-conscious about not being one — she always treated me as one of the gang.”

Ray recalled the “most incredible laughs” they shared when hosting Worst Cooks in America together.

“Anne had great taste in music and in life — she was a force in the kitchen, in any room, in every life she touched,” she concluded. “I’ll miss her friendship deeply. Everyone whose life she touched will miss her. Sending love to Stuart and everyone who knew and loved Anne. We’ve lost someone truly special.”
