A shelter-in-place alert was issued Friday in Carlsbad as police responded to a welfare check involving a possibly armed individual experiencing mental health issues, authorities said.
Officers were called around 2 a.m. Friday to the area of Rancho Santa Fe Road and La Costa Avenue, where a family member had concerns about a relative who may have had access to a weapon, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.
Police said a shelter-in-place alert was activated through Genasys Protect, an app that provides danger alerts.
The alert was lifted without any reported threat to the community, police said.
