Joseph Parker has been granted permission to defend his WBO interim title in a trilogy bout against Derek Chisora.
The Kiwi is expected to return to the ring and defend his belt in September.
With Chisora currently ranked at No.7, the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) have confirmed that he could be a potential opponent for Parker.
“Yes, Parker may defend his interim title against any of the top-15 WBO world-rated contenders,” WBO president Gustavo Olivieri told Sky Sports of a possible third fight with ‘Del Boy’.
It is a fight that Team Parker would welcome with open arms.
When speaking to Sky Sports, Parker’s representative David Higgins confirmed that the 33-year-old Kiwi would be open to a third fight with Chisora.
The former WBO world champion edged out Chisora by split decision in their 2021 bout, despite being knocked down twice by the Brit.
However, in their rematch later that year, Parker turned the tables by scoring three knockdowns to secure a unanimous decision victory.
Chisora has revitalised his career in recent years, claiming wins over Kubrat Pulev, Joe Joyce, and Otto Wallin in his last five fights.
Now, he’s aiming for a major showdown to mark his 50th professional bout, with fellow Queensberry fighter Parker a strong contender.
This could mark the Briton’s 50th, and perhaps final, fight with 36 wins and 13 losses next to his name to date.
Although Parker is also in blistering form, having notched impressive wins over Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, and Martin Bakole.

Now 41, Chisora, has lost just once since being felled by former WBO champion Parker twice in succession.
He last challenged for heavyweight gold in December 2022, when Tyson Fury stopped him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to retain his WBC crown.
All attention in the heavyweight division will turn to Wembley Stadium this summer, with major consequences looming for several top-tier contenders.
The New Zealander has already been named as the next mandatory challenger for the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois at Wembley on July 19.
Whoever he faces next has the opportunity to hijack that spot, and potentially fight for all the belts in the heavyweight division early next year.
