The 2026 recruiting cycle is heating up.
June is a huge recruiting month for college football with numerous top prospects set to take official visits to their top choices this month. Some teams have already done quite a bit of work in this class — like Arkansas, who has an SEC-best 19 commitments already — while other programs are still looking for some momentum as the calendar inches toward late June.
USC currently holds the No. 1 overall spot in the national recruiting rankings, per 247Sports Composite rankings. However, the Trojans will have to continue to recruit at a very high level if they’re going to hold on to that honor for the rest of this cycle.
Top 5 SEC recruiting classes so far
While the Early Signing Period doesn’t begin until June, Father’s Day provides a good opportunity to take a look at the top-5 SEC recruiting classes so far in 2025.
Georgia
Georgia’s class ranks No. 4 nationally but is easily the best group in the SEC so far this cycle. The Bulldogs have 16 commitments, with 11 being considered blue-chip recruits. The class is led by 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who committed to UGA back in May. He’s 1 of 5 Georgia commits who are in the top-100 of the 247Sports Composite, so this is a class with plenty of top-end upside. Georgia figures to once again contend for the No. 1 overall class in this cycle.
Texas A&M
The Aggies come in at No. 7 in the national rankings. Texas A&M has 14 commitments but Mike Elko and Co. are currently missing a 5-star prospect to vault their ranking up even higher. So far, the Aggies have 13 commitments from 4-star prospects and 1 from a 3-star. Texas A&M expected to take a step back on the recruiting trail when it went from Jimbo Fisher to Elko, but the Aggies are more than holding their own on the trail so far.

LSU
LSU is the third and final SEC team to crack the top 10 of the national rankings so far. The Tigers come in at No. 9 despite earning just 10 commitments so far in this class. The Tigers’ class is led by 5-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, who is regarded as the top pass-catcher in the country for this cycle. LSU also has blue-chip commitments from 8 additional prospects. LSU appears to be on track for another top-5 recruiting class in 2026 if it can continue to add high-level recruits.
Arkansas
The Razorbacks are the surprise entrant on this list, coming in at No. 11 overall in the national rankings per 247Sports Composite. Some of that is due to volume — Arkansas already has 19 commitments in this class. The Hogs have just 3 blue-chip commits so far, so they’re likely to fall considerably down the board between now and signing day as other programs pick up 4-and-5-star recruits.
Texas
The Longhorns claimed the No. 1 high school recruiting class last year and look like they’re on track to compete for that spot again. Texas has a 5-star committed in quarterback Dia Bell (son of former NBA player Raja Bell) plus 7 other 4-star commits. Texas’s class is currently all the way down at No. 16, but the Longhorns are expected to add plenty more blue-chippers before the end of this cycle. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has continued to prioritize high school recruiting over the transfer portal, so the Longhorns are far from finished in this class.
The Early Signing Period for the class of 2026 begins in December.
