ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’ve had some bad weekend weather luck this year, but still not as unlucky as other spots around the Northeast. This weekend will be another case of that – A stationary front is plaguing areas south of us with constant rain, whereas we are on the northern edge where conditions are mostly dry and cloudy. We had some showers early today, but those are fizzling out, leaving us with cloudy skies and temps in the upper 50s. We’ll climb to the upper 60s today, which is ten degrees below normal… But hey, room temperature ain’t bad! Rain stays out of the region rest of today, with areas north seeing some sunshine in the P.M. while the Finger Lakes stay cloudy.
Much of the same tomorrow, with three small changes: 1) Temperatures peak a bit warmer in the lower 70s, 2) Areas north of the Thruway will see even more clearing later in the day, and 3) There are chances for some light scattered showers in the Finger Lakes in the P.M. All in all, still not a perfect weekend, but it could be SO much worse.
Next week sees that classic summer mugginess make it’s triumphant return. Dew points will rise each day, even into the 70s at one point. This humidity will create fuel for thunderstorms, especially on Thursday. That particular day we are tracking very closely. We’re still Green on the Threat Tracker, but as we draw closer we’ll have a better idea as to the exact strength of these storms, so make sure to stay tuned.
Other than that, have a great weekend!!
