ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 24-hour walking relay at Innovative Field to raise money for youth baseball is underway.
The Red Wings’ fourth annual ‘Intentional Walk’ got underway at 6 a.m. on Friday and ends at 6 a.m. the next day. The goal is to keep at least one person walking during that time. Red Wings staff, interns, and fans are among the walkers.
The walk supports Challenger Baseball in the Rochester area, a little league program for athletes with physical or intellectual disabilities that’s been around since 1989. The upcoming 33rd annual Challenger Baseball World Series will feature teams from Fairport, Greece, Brockport, Penfield, Pittsford, Webster, Victor, Chili, Brighton, Geneva, Rush-Henrietta, and Avon.
People can donate online, through Venmo, or by calling (585) 454-1001. There will also be raffles of signed memorabilia during each game during the June 10-15 homestand, with all proceeds benefiting Challenger Baseball.
