The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted a boatful of suspected undocumented immigrants off the coast of San Diego over the weekend, the maritime agency reported Monday.
The crew of the cutter Robert Ward halted the northward-traveling 20-foot vessel roughly eight miles south of Point Loma at about 9 a.m. Sunday. according to USCG public affairs.
All seven occupants of the boat claimed Mexican nationality, the Coast Guard reported.
The detainees were transferred to the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol at Ballast Point on San Diego Harbor.
