Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese rivalry continues as injured Fever star is spotted in sideline action during Sky win

CAITLIN Clark called rival Angel Reese for a travel violation during the Indiana Fever’s latest match-up with the Chicago Sky over the weekend.

Clark and Reese have developed arguably the most electric rivalry in women’s basketball dating back to their college days with Iowa and LSU respectively.

Reese’s squad triumphed against the Hawkeyes to take the national title in 2023, although Clark’s Iowa bounced back to beat the Tigers in the Elite Eight 12 months later.

Since both were drafted into the WNBA, Clark has had the better of their matchups.

The superstar guard missed their latest contest, however, as she is nursing a quad injury.

In Clark’s absence, Reese and Co hoped to get one over on their rivals.

But despite not being on the court, Clark still got involved in the action.

Sat courtside in street clothes, the 23-year-old stood and passionately made the travel gesture when she felt that Reese had committed the offence.

Reese had just claimed an offensive rebound, only to be called for the travel after all.

Despite Clark’s absence, the Fever demolished Chicago 79-52 at United Center to move to 4-4 on the season.

Reese, 23, endured a difficult outing against the Sky.

The rebound machine scored just four points and was -20 in 27 minutes – although she did grab 12 boards.

Reese and Clark clashed during the Sky’s previous match-up with the Fever last month.

As the 6ft 3in former LSU star grabbed an offensive board, she was fouled hard by Clark.

Reese was knocked over by her rival, with the ball squirming out of her hands.

She was visibly annoyed as she vaulted back up, and was restrained from confronting Clark by teammates.

Their next meeting will come on July 27 at United Center.

By that point, Clark should long have overcome her injury.

Offering an update last week, the former No1 pick said: “I’ll miss this weekend’s game, but after that, it’s day-by-day and see how I feel, and just turn to the medical staff and what they think.

“I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress and I feel good, and I’m not going to rush coming back.

    “It’s just not worth it.

“But after this weekend, I’ll be reevaluated and we’ll have a better idea of when I’ll return.”
