gBETA Greeley to highlight local startups at the Spring Showcase

Greeley residents can learn about the five local startups selected for the city’s gBETA spring cohort at a free event next week.

In May, five companies were chosen for the second round of the city’s startup accelerator, gBETA Greeley. The free seven-week program run by the national venture firm gener8tor helps early-stage startups grow, connect with mentors and seek funding. This second round of startups builds on the success of the fall cohort, and the Spring Showcase offers startups an opportunity to pitch new products in AgTech, AI, robotics and manufacturing.

The event will take place from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 12 at the Atlas Theater, 709 16th St. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with regional leaders, mentors and Greeley’s entrepreneurial community, bringing together founders, investors and business experts.

The spring cohort consists of the following startups:

Agroptics – Ahmed Hashem. Satellite-enabled farm tools to monitor crop health and optimize irrigation. Agroptics helps farmers conserve water and increase crop yields by utilizing real-time data and weather forecasts. Their precision irrigation technology adapts to environmental changes, reducing water use by up to 15%. Factorem – Alexandra Zhang. Factorem leverages AI to streamline custom part manufacturing for industries like aerospace and robotics, reducing lead times from three months to 12 days. Seedling Biosystems – Brian DeDecker, PhD; Maya N.; Simon Kalmus. This team has modified soybeans to produce rare ingredients for cosmetics, food, and medicine, including proteins for baby formula and skincare squalene. Blooming Health Seed & Feed – Sean Short Small, local feed hubs that produce sprout-based, eco-friendly chicken feed from recycled materials. The company has sold over 2,000 pounds of feed and is introducing insect-powered blends. Orion Labs LLC – Sara Jennings. Orion Labs developed Saiph, a traffic safety system that predicts the movements of road users. This technology helps cities avoid crashes and has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

“We’re excited to bring this program to Greeley — not just because we support new ideas, but because we believe great businesses can start and grow right here,” Greeley Economic Development Manager Derrek Jerred said when the city announced the spring cohort. “This program helps local talent succeed and gives our economy a strong boost — plus, it’s one more reason to be proud of Greeley.”

The event is free and open to everyone, but city staff encourages attendees to register in advance. To learn more or sign up for the event, residents can go to lu.ma/yihb9i38.
