“Chicken Coop at Costco! How cool,” @costcobuys captioned their intriguing post. “This steel frame chicken coop is weather resistant, includes a gate and ventilation window, a nesting box, pull out tray for cleaning, and a flower box!”

Comfortably fit for roughly 2-3 chickens, this truly unexpected Costco find retails for $299.99, which honestly seems like a pretty great deal considering it looks more comfortable than most one-bedroom apartments in NYC. And best of all, once you get it up and running, you’ll be set with fresh eggs on a daily basis.

While some commenters online chimed in to throw jokes at the coops' small size, it is important to note that most chicken setups feature a lot more space to roam. Should you put this specific coop to use, it would be a good idea to make sure your healthy hens have plenty of safe space outside of the coop to roam freely. Ideally, this coop would be used as a shelter or nesting space, not the full living environment.

“What is this, a chicken coop for ants,” one person jokes. “My toddler would love this,” another added.

Ultimately, chickens need more room than what these smaller coops provide if you want them to stay healthy, happy, and productive. Keep that in mind when setting up your backyard chicken oasis—it’s not that the Costco coop isn’t useful, but it should be part of a larger, more spacious setup. And with the potential to collect 1 to 3 eggs a day from your three-hen squad, you’ll be eating well and feeling pretty good about the whole thing in the end.
