Lauren James has won her race to be included in England’s Euro 2025 squad as Sarina Wiegman named the 23-player group that will travel to this summer’s tournament in Switzerland.
Lotte Wubben-Moy replaces Millie Bright after the Lionesses vice-captain made herself unavailable through burnout, while 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang is named having made just one senior appearance.
England’s preparations have been rocked after Bright’s withdrawal followed the international retirements of Mary Earps and Fran Kirby. Earps hung up her gloves after learning she had lost her battle with Hannah Hampton for the No 1 shirt, while Kirby was informed by Wiegman that she was unlikely to be in the squad.
Seven players – Agyemang, Aggie Beever-Jones, Grace Clinton, Khiara Keating, Maya Le Tissier, Anna Moorhouse and Jess Park – will be appearing at their first major tournament.
